Blog Post 2RHO-TECH is proud to announce the successful completion of the HDPE scope of works assigned to us at the prestigious and important Dedisa Peaking Power Station based in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Dedisa is one of the first of many private power generation plants to be built in South Africa. The green field open-cycle turbine diesel fired power plant it expected to generate 335MW. The self-start facility has been designed for emergency and/or electricity shortage situations with an expected run time of 20 hours per week and 45 hours continuous generation if required. This state of the art facility has technology which allows for future change in primary fuel (diesel) to gas and for future conversion to combined cycle technology (CCGT). The Dedisa plant will help prevent blackouts nationally and complement the local city’s power supply and is expected to go operational in August 2016. It is the largest construction project at the Coega industrial development zone (IDZ) to date, and during its peak has employed approximately 1000 construction workers of which RHO-TECH has been a part of. RHO-TECH is proud to have been associated with this key infrastructure project in conjunction with the main contractor Group Five.

Blog Post 1RHO-TECH offer both theoretical and practical training for HDPE Pipe and the HDPE Fusion welding process. The Rho-Tech Team have gone to great lengths to ensuring the training content and material follows market leading best practice as well as local and international standards, further to this Rho-Tech strongly believe that the training course offer our customers and partners high quality and practical knowledge and skills for small, medium and Large pipe sizes. RHO-TECH have identified that the HDPE market currently has a low standard of qualified welding skill through lack of practical knowledge as well as bad habits. This lack of knowledge combined with bad habits, has the potential for disaster allowing poor workmanship into the market effecting end user confidence in the HDPE Pipe products and increase unnecessary repairs and/or replacement costs. Through the Rho-Tech Training program some of the already skilled welders have been tested and scored poorly. By taking these welders through our training program we have noted a massive improvement in the welders knowledge and understanding allowing him/her to successfully achieve the required pass rate. |
