Flirting with poor Quality HDPE Pipe?

19/5/2016

RHO-TECH has for many years now highlighted inherent risk associated with clients purchasing sub–standard pipe. We are finding that many customers lack the required product knowledge and market understanding to effectively identify any short comings in the possibly flawed pipe.

Due the ever changing economic climate we are finding that the clients aren’t aware that virgin raw material has increased in cost by over 20% for 2016 alone. In some cases Rho-Tech has identified that various customers are still buying pipe at pre-increase price levels suggesting that external recycled materials are possibly being used, this automatically makes the pipe non-SABS compliant nor SAPPMA approved. While thinking they are getting a bargain effectively enabling short term gain for a long-term problem.

Out-sourced recycled material is often contaminated with other plastics and fillers. This can create brittleness and can affect the pipes ability to handle pressure and in the case of the picture above, the pipe splits longitudinally at low pressure or way before the designed life of the HDPE pipe product

Rho-Tech is proud to announce that the HDPE pipe supply and welding project in Central Africa is ahead of schedule and is expected to be signed off early May ‘16.

The project required high levels of co-ordination between logistics and the end client. Although some challenges were experienced, Rho-Tech has overcome these to demonstrate that our market leading approach and welding technology truly can deliver top results anywhere on the African continent.

We also believe that with our attention to detail and focus on both pipe and welding quality has enabled the customer to achieve complete peace of mind and that the end goal of the project will be sustainable for the long term.

Rho-Tech deployed 5 Welding teams and 7 McElroy machines of various sizes which were used to weld the various pipelines across the project area.

RHO-TECH is proud to announce the successful completion of the manufacture of the Mondi Fibre Glass Seedling Beds.

Mondi Forestry Division awarded RHO-TECH a tender to fabricate 1005 fiberglass seeding trays as part of their R85,000,000.00 “New Forests” Program. Mondi have scoped the current requirement to manufacture 1005 units. These trays are approximately 5.5m in length and around 1.2m wide and are made entirely of Fiberglass. The have been manufactured over a 5 month period.

RHO-TECH believe the reason the tender was awarded by Mondi Limited is that RHO-TECH have effectively demonstrated and proven that RHO-TECH aligns to the Mondi company ethos and procedures:

All of RHO-TECH’s services are tailored to suit the objectives of our client’s management and shareholders high quality standards.

We provided senior-level expertise and consultation throughout the process. As a result we have proven an extensive track record of success in each service area. RHO-TECH pride ourselves on our thoroughness in every phase of the assignment from preliminary research to final execution. We are focused on delivering quality, value, accountability, speed of execution, and clear communication with our client.

All of the above was executed with precision and proven dedication, in the end proving the decision was correctly made by Mondi Forestry's Nursery Project Manager.

RHO-TECH were required to take the project on in-house due to unforeseen delays by the out sourced partner and have successfully completed production on time as originally agreed.

RHO-TECH is proud to announce the successful completion of the HDPE scope of works assigned to us at the prestigious and important Dedisa Peaking Power Station based in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.

Dedisa is one of the first of many private power generation plants to be built in South Africa. The green field open-cycle turbine diesel fired power plant it expected to generate 335MW.

The self-start facility has been designed for emergency and/or electricity shortage situations with an expected run time of 20 hours per week and 45 hours continuous generation if required. This state of the art facility has technology which allows for future change in primary fuel (diesel) to gas and for future conversion to combined cycle technology (CCGT).

The Dedisa plant will help prevent blackouts nationally and complement the local city’s power supply and is expected to go operational in August 2016.

It is the largest construction project at the Coega industrial development zone (IDZ) to date, and during its peak has employed approximately 1000 construction workers of which RHO-TECH has been a part of.

RHO-TECH is proud to have been associated with this key infrastructure project in conjunction with the main contractor Group Five.

HDPE Training and Knowledge Transfer the Rho-Tech Way!

7/7/2014

RHO-TECH offer both theoretical and practical training for HDPE Pipe and the HDPE Fusion welding process. The Rho-Tech Team have gone to great lengths to ensuring the training content and material follows market leading best practice as well as local and international standards, further to this Rho-Tech strongly believe that the training course offer our customers and partners high quality and practical knowledge and skills for small, medium and Large pipe sizes.

RHO-TECH have identified that the HDPE market currently has a low standard of qualified welding skill through lack of practical knowledge as well as bad habits.

This lack of knowledge combined with bad habits, has the potential for disaster allowing poor workmanship into the market effecting end user confidence in the HDPE Pipe products and increase unnecessary repairs and/or replacement costs.

Through the Rho-Tech Training program some of the already skilled welders have been tested and scored poorly. By taking these welders through our training program we have noted a massive improvement in the welders knowledge and understanding allowing him/her to successfully achieve the required pass rate.
